COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT - DISASTER RECOVERY
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development has many resources available to assist communities with disaster recovery. Our favorite is this short video that explains how these funds can help a community rebuild in the wake of a storm. We also think the toolkit is a lifesaver. In addition, we've created a short guide to help Florida Panhandle communities get projects ready for CDBG-DR funding.
RISK AND VULNERABILITY TOOLS
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration offers some of the most advanced tools for assessing community vulnerability. And best of all? It's free! Check out NOAA's Digital Coast for data, tools and training on how to manage development in coastal areas. Some of our favorites include:
In addition, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has a free tool for assessing risk and losses in disasters called HAZUS-MH.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TOOLS
Florida's Department of Economic Opportunity offers free data and analysis through Florida Resource and Economic Information Database Application, a website with a bunch of great information for communities about their workforce and labor markets.
